4-[1-[3-(Isopropylamino)-2-pyridyl]piperazin-4-yl-carbonyl] benzoic acid methyl ester (3 g) was dissolved in methanol (47 ml) and then, aqueous 1N-sodium hydroxide (16 ml) was added slowly. The solution was stirred at 20~25° C. for 3 hours. 2N-HCl was added slowly to the mixture for neutralization (pH=~5) and then, the crystalline powder was precipitated. The crystalline powder was filtered, washed with water and methanol and dried to give 2.7 g (yield: 93%) of the desired compound.
