Procedure

The title compound was prepared according to the procedure described for Example 2 using carbonyldiimidazole (0.26 g, 1.7 mmol), 5-methyl-4-phenylacetylamino-thiophene-2-carboxylic acid from Example 10, Step 1 (0.3 g, 1.1 mmol), and piperonyl amine (0.17 g, 1.1 mmol) to afford 0.43 g of 5-methyl-4-phenylacetylamino-thiophene-2-carboxylic acid (1,3-benzodioxol-5-ylmethyl)-amide. A sample of the product was chromatographed on silica gel, eluting with ethyl acetate. Evaporation of the effluent under reduced pressure gave product with a mp 138-140° C.
