Procedure

A solution of Example 91A (490 mg, 1.23 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) was treated with SnCl2.2H2O (1.39 g; 6.17 mmol), heated to reflux for 1 hour, and concentrated. The concentrate was partitioned between saturated NaHCO3 and ethyl acetate, and the aqueous phase was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated. The concentrate was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel with 10% ethyl acetate/dichloromethane to provide the desired product.
