A solution of tert-Butyl 4-[4-(2-(N-(2-fluorobenzyl)-N-methylamine)ethoxy)phenyl]-4-oxobutyrate (Step E, 2.23 g, 5.3 mol) in dichloromethane (20 ml) was treated with trifluoroacetic acid (10 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours, and concentrated in vacuo. The purification was done by flash chromatography on silica gel column (chloroform: methanol, 92.5:7.5-90:10 spiked with acetic acid) to provide the title compound.
