Procedure

A solution of N4-[3-(benzyloxy)phenyl]-N6,N6-dimethyl-2-(methylsulfanyl)-4,6-pyrimidinediamine (5.5 g, 15 mmol) and m-chloroperbenzoic acid (5.19 g) in CH2Cl2 at 0° C. was stirred for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was slowly brought to room temperature and quenched with a solution of sodium sulfite. The organic layer was separated and washed with NaHCO3 solution (3×250 mL), dried over anhydrous MgSO4, concentrated, and purified by column chromatography [eluent: chloroform/methanol (94:6)], giving N4-[3-(benzyloxy)phenyl]-N6,N6-dimethyl-2-(methylsulfinyl)-4,6-pyrimidinediamine (3.98, 69%).
