(1R,2S)-2-(Boc-amino)cyclopentanecarboxylate (CAS: 1140972-29-7, TCI) (1 mmol) was dissolved in CH2Cl2 (3 mL) followed by the slow addition of TFA (1 mL) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 1 hour and then the solvent was removed under vacuum to give the crude product 50-B, which was used directly in the next step.
