Procedure

tert-Butyl 2-(2-hydroxy-2-methyl-propyl)-3-oxo-5,6,8,8a-tetrahydro-1H-imidazo[1,5-a]pyrazine-7-carboxylate (compound 106-C-1) (1 mmol) was dissolved in CH2Cl2 (3 mL) followed by the slow addition of TFA (1 mL) at 0° C. After the reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 1 hour, the solvent was removed in vacuum to give the crude product 106-C, which was used directly in the next step.
