To a solution of methyl 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-(2-hydroxy-2-methylpropyl)-1H-benzimidazole-6-carboxylate (125 mg, 0.365 mmol) and cesium carbonate (297 mg, 0.913 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (0.730 mL) was added methyl iodide (0.025 mL, 0.402 mmol). Stirred at ambient temperature for 2.5 h. Filtered and purification by reverse phase HPLC (C-18, 95% water/acetonitrile→5% water/acetonitrile with 0.1% TFA) gave the title compound (40 mg): LC-MS [M+1]=357.2.
