A solution of (2-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-4-yl)methanol (217 mg; 1.23 mmol) in anh. DCE (4 ml) was treated with MnO2 (861 mg; 9.91 mmol), and the resulting mixture was stirred at reflux, under nitrogen, for 1.5 h. After cooling to rt, the resulting reaction mixture was filtered over celite, and the separated solids were washed with DCM. The filtrate was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure giving 2-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)isonicotinaldehyde as a colorless solid. LC-MS (conditions C): tR=0.70 min.; [M+H]+: 173.76 g/mol.
