A mixture of 1-([1,1′-biphenyl]-3-ylmethyl)-6-(4-fluoro-2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-5,6-dihydropyridin-2(1H)-one (130 mg; 0.31 mmol; 1.0 equiv.), 10% Pd(C) (13 mg; 10% in mass) in anh. AcOEt (2 ml) was stirred at rt, under hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm), for 1 h. Filtration over a pad of celite, concentration to dryness under reduced pressure, and subsequent purification by preparative HPLC afforded 1-([1,1′-biphenyl]-3-ylmethyl)-6-(4-fluoro-2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)piperidin-2-one as a yellow solid. LC-MS (conditions A): tR=0.94 min.; [M+H]+: 419.92 g/mol.
