A solution of 2-fluoropyridine-3-carboxaldehyde (400 mg, 3.2 mmol) and sodium borohydride (121 mg, 3.2 mmol) in methanol (8 mL) was stirred at rt for 16 h. The mixture was then diluted with EtOAc and washed with H2O, then brine. The organic phase was collected, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo to give (2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)methanol.
