A solution of (2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)methanol (400 mg, 3.1 mmol), methanesulfonyl chloride (0.37 mL, 4.7 mmol) and triethylamine (0.88 mL, 6.30 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) was stirred at rt for 16 h. The mixture was then diluted with dichloromethane and washed with H2O, then brine. The organic phase was collected, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo to give (2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)methyl methanesulfonate.
