Procedure
A solution of dimethyl 2-((4-iodo-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)succinate (200 mg, 0.61 mmol) and lithium hydroxide (40 mg, 1.80 mmol) in THF/water (4 mL/1 mL) was stirred at 60° C. for 12 hours. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was diluted with water and extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 2-((4-iodo-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)succinic acid. MS ESI calc'd. for C8H10IN2O4 [M+H]+ 325. found 325. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD) δ 7.76 (s, 1H), 7.50 (s, 1H), 4.60-4.48 (m, 2H), 3.46-3.38 (m, 1H), 2.83-2.73 (m, 1H), 2.60-2.51 (m, 1H).
