Procedure
24.4 parts of 1-methyl-4-amino-6-chloropyridazinium perchlorate in 200 parts of acetonitrile is stirred with 12.4 parts of benzylmercaptan and 20 parts of triethylamine for three hours at 80° C. The solvent is then distilled off at subatmospheric pressure, the residue is treated with about 300 parts of water and the sparingly soluble reaction product is suction filtered. 29.5 parts (89.2% of theory) of 1-methyl-4-amino-6-benzylmercaptopyridazinium perchlorate is obtained; C12H14O4N3SCl, melting point 139° to 141° C.
