Reaction of 2-amino-4-hydroxymethylimidazole hydrochloride (which is obtained by treating the picrate salt with hydrochloric acid) with cysteamine hydrochloride and reaction of the resulting 2-amino-4-[(2-aminoethyl)-thiomethyl]imidazole with 1-nitro-2,2-bis-methylthioethylene according to the procedure of Example 8(i) gives 1-nitro-2-methylthio-2-[2-((2-amino-4-imidazolyl)methylthio)-ethylamino]ethylene. Finally, reaction with 2-[(2-aminoethyl)thiomethyl]-3-chloropyridine by the procedure of Example 1 (a)(ii) produces the title compound.
