Ethyl 1-(dipropylamino)-6-mesityl-4-oxo-4H-quinolizine-3-carboxylate (0.0145 g, 0.033 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (0.3 mL). Potassium hydroxide (6M in ethanol, 94 μL, 0.57 mmol) was added. The solution was heated at 60° C. for 1 h. The solution was extracted using ethyl acetate, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated to give 0.010 g (83% yield) of the title compound.
