IPEA (6.02 mL) and BOPCl (1.79 g) were added to a solution of 5-chloro-2-(4-chlorophenyl)pentanoic acid (1.55 g) and (E)-3-[3-methoxy-4-(4-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]acrylic acid hydrazide dihydrochloride (2.03 g) in methylene chloride (80 mL), and the reaction solution was stirred at room temperature for two hours. Dichloromethane and saturated sodium bicarbonate water were added to the reaction solution, and the organic layer was separated. The resulting organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 4.67 g of the title compound in an unrefined state.
