A solution of 3-[(3S)-1-methyl-2-oxo-pyrrolidin-3-yl]oxy-N-(5-methylpyrazin-2-yl)-5-phenylmethoxy-benzamide (Intermediate 19) (449 mg, 1.04 mmol) in THF (10 mL) and methanol (10 mL) containing 10% palladium on carbon (catalytic) was stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen for 16 hours. The palladium on carbon was removed by filtration and the filtrate evaporated under reduced pressure to afford product (390 mg, 100%). 1HNMR δ (300 MHz, CDCl3) 2.07-2.22 (m, 1H), 2.54 (s, 3H), 2.57-2.70 (m, 1H), 2.97 (s, 3H), 3.38-3.58 (m, 3H), 4.99 (t, 1H), 6.71 (s, 1H), 6.87 (s, 1H), 6.97 (s, 1H), 8.15 (s, 1H), 8.66 (s, 1H), 9.49 (s, 1H); m/z 343 (M+H)+.
