Following the same procedure described for Example 472 (Step 1) and starting from ethyl (6-chloro-3-methyl-2-pyridinyl)acetate (Example 478, 0.20 g, 0.94 mmol), Na2CO3 (0.24 g, 2.24 mmol), 4-methoxyphenyl boronic acid (0.57 g, 3.74 mmol), and PdCl2(dppf)CH2Cl2 (0.15 g, 0.19 mmol) in a mixture of toluene (1.50 mL), 1,4-dioxane (0.50 mL) and water (0.60 mL), the title compound was obtained (0.25 g, 94%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD2Cl2) δ 7.95 (d, 2H), 7.53 (s, 2H), 6.98 (d, 2H), 4.20 (q, 2H), 3.92 (s, 2H), 3.86 (s, 3H), 2.33 (s, 3H), 1.29 (t, 3H).
