Procedure

In the forgoing reaction, 1-methoxy-2-propanol is reacted with methacryloyl chloride to yield 1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl methacrylate. 1-methoxy-2-propanol and methacryloyl chloride are commercially available compounds (e.g., 1-methoxy-2-propanol is available from the Dow Chemical Company under the product name of “Dowanol PM”).
