A mixture of rac-tert-butyl ((1-benzyl-3-methyl-1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyridin-2-yl)methyl)carbamate and Pd(OH)2/C (20% wt, 0.1 eq) was pressurized to 4 bar with H2 and maintained at rt for 5 h. The mixture was filtered through diatomaceous earth and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to yield the title compound as a colorless oil. MS (ESI) 229.2 (M+H).
