To a solution of 8-(2,6-dichlorobenzoylamino)-4-hydrazinoquinoline (298 mg) in dimethylformamide (4 ml) was added succinic anhydride (94 mg), and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 12 hours. To the mixture was added water (10 ml) and the precipitate was collected. The solid was treated with hot ethanol (5 ml), allowed to cool to ambient temperature, filtered and washed with water to give 8-(2,6-dichlorobenzoylamino)-4-[2-(3-carboxypropanoyl)hydrazino]quinoline as a yellow crystal (105 mg).
