Reaction Steps
The product from Step B (750 mg.) is dissolved in 150 ml. of benzene and treated with phosgene until reaction is complete. After standing 2 hours, the precipitate is collected and recrystallized from ethanol to give 1,3-dihydro-3-(2-fluorophenyl)-6-nitroimidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-one, m.p. 234°-236° C.
