Procedure

A mixture of 2 g (3.98 mmol) of product from Example 20, 6 g (40 mmol) of sodium iodide and 150 ml of acetone is thoroughly degassed with argon and then heated at 55°-60° for seven hours. The mixture is cooled to room temperature and the acetone is evaporated. The residue is partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The organic phase is separated and washed with aqueous sodium thiosulfate and saline. The dried solution is evaporated to give 1.48 g (81%) of the title product.
