Procedure
A mixture consisting of 4.8 gm of 1-(3'-ureido-phenyl)-2-amino-propane and 5 ml of ethyl formate was refluxed for five hours. Thereafter, the reaction solution was evaporated, and the residue was purified by chromatography on a silicagel column, using methanol/chloroform (2:8) as the flow agent. The eluate was evaporated, and the residue was recrystallized from ethanol and ether, yielding the compound of the formula ##STR23## which had a melting point of 133°-136° C.
