Methyl 3α-ethoxy-2β-hydroxy-11α-(3-methylbutylamino)-5α-androstane-17β carboxylate (100 mg) was dissolved in 0.0987M HCl solution (2.2 ml) as far as possible. The mixture was made up to 15 g the addition of water and filtered. The residue was collected, dried and weighed. This gave a 0.56% solution with respect to free base, pH 2.2.
