Reaction Steps

To a solution of 2-benzylthio ethylurea (0.03 mole) in 12 ml of formic acid, there are added 3 ml of H2O2 (110 volumes). The resulting solution is agitated for 2 hours while maintaining the temperature at 30° C. The solution is then concentrated under reduced pressure and the resulting oil residue, taken up in sulfuric ether, solidifies. The product obtained (4.8 g) is crystallized in acetonitrile and has a melting point of 110° C.
