Reaction Steps
Ester 22-3 (250 mg, 0.70 mmol) was suspended in EtOAc (25 mL), cooled to 0° and treated with HCl gas for 15 min. The resulting solution was stirred for 3.5 h then evaporated to give 22-4 as a white solid.
