5-(5-Isoquinolylsulfanyl)-6-nitro-2,3-dihydro-benzo[d][1,3]thiazol-2-one 300 mg (0.8 mmol) was dissolved in acetic acid 20 ml, 35% hydrogen peroxide 15 ml was added, and the mixture was stirred for 15 hours at room temperature. Saturated sodium thiosulfate was added to the reaction solution, the resulting precipitates were collected and washed with water, and 5-(5-isoquinolylsulfinyl)-6-nitro-2,3-dihydro-benzo[d][1,3]thiazol-2-one 190 mg (61.6%) was obtained.
