Procedure
A mixture of 0.64 g of the 2-aminobenzonitrile of Example 4, 0.30 g of chloroformamidine hydrochloride, and 5.0 ml of diglyme was heated at 140°-150° C. for 5 h. The mixture was diluted with 50 ml of water and stirred for 1 h. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration, washed with water and acetone, and dried to leave 0.58 g (78%) of a white solid. (Mixture of cis-trans isomers.) Anal. calc'd for C17H24N4.2/3HCl: C, 66.2; H, 8.05 N, 18.1. Found: C, 66.2, H; 8.05; N, 18.2.
