Procedure
A solution of 1-(3-chlorobenzyl)-6-(4-methylthiosemicarbazido)-3-propyluracil (3.81 g, 10 mM) in DMF (40 ml) was stirred at 100° C. for 20 hours. To the reaction solution was added 50% methanol (20 ml) and the mixture was cooled to give crystals. Recrystallization from DMF/methanol gave colorless crystals (2.49 g, 72%), m.p. 263°-265° C.
