A solution of tert-butyl 4-(2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl)-3-((2,2,2-trifluoroacetamido)methyl)piperazine-1-carboxylate, prepared as described in the previous step, (8.6 g, crude) in methanolic hydrogen chloride (20 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour, followed by concentration to provide the title compound which was used without further purification. ESI-MS (M+1): 300 calc. for C11H20F3N3O3 299.
