Procedure
(S)-1-(tert-Butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-4-(6-chloro-pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-indan-5-carbonitrile (130 mg, 0.33 mmol) is suspended in dry tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) and cooled in an ice bath. Tetrabutylammonium fluoride (1 M in tetrahydrofuran, 0.65 mL, 0.65 mmol) is added, the mixture allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 3 hours. The mixture is concentrated under vacuum, diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with saturated ammonium chloride solution. The organic phase is evaporated to give crude title compound which is used directly in the next step (Yield 143 mg). LC (METHOD 6): tR=0.47 min; Mass spectrum (ES+): m/z=285 [M+H]+.
