To a solution of 3-fluoro-4-methoxybenzoyl chloride from the last step and anhydrous AlCl3 (1.30 g, 9.76 mmol) in dry dichloromethane (18 mL) was added (2-chloroethoxy)benzene (1.53 g, 9.76 mmol) in 2 mL dichloromethane at 0° C. After stirring at rt for 25 min, the mixture was poured into 3 N HCl. The mixture was extracted with dichloromethane. The extract was washed with sat. NaHCO3 and brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to give the subtitle compound, which would be used for the next step directly.
