Procedure

According to the same procedure as example 1, step E described, 2-chloro-5-(1-(4-(2-chloroethoxy)phenyl)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)but-1-en-2-yl)benzofuran (440 mg, 1.0 eq) was reacted with MeNH2 (30% wt in water, 10 mL) in MeOH (20 mL) under reflux to give the desired (Z)-product (Z and E isomer can be separated via column chromatography). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.24 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 7.20 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 7.15 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H), 7.01 (dd, J=8.4 Hz, 2.0 Hz, 1H), 6.88 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H), 6.74 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H), 6.51 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H), 6.45 (s, 1H), 3.92 (t, J=5.2 Hz, 2H), 3.83 (s, 3H), 2.88 (t, J=5.2 Hz, 2H), 2.50 (q, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 2.45 (s, 3H), 0.92 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 3H); m/z=462[M+1]+.

Workup

  1. temperatureunder reflux
  2. customto give the desired
  3. custom(Z)-product (Z and E isomer can be separated via column chromatography)
