To a cooled solution of (+)-5-fluoro-3-(3-fluorophenyl)-2-(1-hydroxyethyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (0.800 g, 2.63 mmol) in dichloromethane (16 ml) and triethylamine (1.10 ml, 7.91 mmol), methanesulphonyl chloride (0.400 ml, 5.27 mmol) is added stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mass is quenched with water, extracted with dichloromethane, dried over sodium sulphate and concentrated to afford the title compound as brown solid which is used as such in next step.
