To a solution of (S,E)-N-(1-(3-isopropylphenyl)ethylidene)-2-methylpropane-2-sulfinamide (9.5 g, 0.036 mol) in THF (98 mL)/H2O (2 mL) was added NaBH4, the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The mixture was then partitioned between EtOAc and water, the layers were separated and the organic layer was washed with water, brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated. The residue was purified by column chromatography to give the titled compound.
