A mixture of tert-butyl [2-(6-acetyl-2-bromo-4-chloro-3-methylphenoxy)ethyl]carbamate (6.5 g, 16 mmol), 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-vinyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (3.3 mL, 19 mmol), [1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]-dichloropalladium(II), complex with dichloromethane (1:1) (600 mg, 0.8 mmol) and potassium carbonate (6.6 g, 48 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (100 mL), and water (50 mL) was heated at 80° C. for 3 hours and 50° C. overnight. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×10 mL). The organic layers were combined and washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified on a silica gel with ethyl acetate in hexanes (0-25%) to afford the desired compound (4.1 g, 72%). LCMS calculated for C18H24ClNO4Na (M+Na)+: m/z=376.1; found: 376.0.
