Reaction Steps

1.0 M NaOH in water (15 mL, 15 mmol) was added to 4-bromo-1,7-dimethyl-6-(phenylsulfonyl)-6H-pyrrolo[2,3-e][1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine (1.57 g, 3.87 mmol, from Step 1) in THF (15 mL) and EtOH (15 mL). The reaction was continued for 1 hour, and a precipitate formed. The solid product was isolated by filtration. The solid was then suspended in Et2O, filtered and air dried. Yield: (0.86 g, 84%).
