Lithium hydroxide monohydrate (0.27 g, 6.4 mmol) was added to an ice-cooled suspension of the methyl ester 269a) (1.0 g, 2.56 mmol) in THF/water (1:1, 50 mL) and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The solvent was removed under vacuum, and the residue was dissolved in water (20 mL) and washed with dichloromethane (2×20 mL). The aqueous phase was acidified with sodium hydrogen sulfate and extracted with dichloromethane (3×50 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated to dryness. White solid. Yield: 0.9 g (93% of theory)
