Combine 2-methylthio-5-(1H-tetrazol-1-yl)benzoic acid (0.68 g, 0.29 mmol), 30% hydrogen peroxide (3 mL) and glacial acetic acid (20 mL). After 2 hours, heat to 100° C. After 2 hours, cool to ambient temperature and add water (250 mL) to give a solid. Collect the solid by filtration and dry to give the title compound: Rf=0.21 (silica gel, 10%; methanol/85% dichloromethane/5% acetic acid).
