A mixture of tert-butyl (4-amino-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)acetate (0.305 g, 1.55 mmol) and 4-chloro-7-(3-chloropropoxy)quinazoline (0.398 g, 1.55 mmol) in isopropanol (8 ml) was heated at 90° C. for 5 minutes and then allowed to cool to room temperature. The mixture was diluted with diethyl ether and then filtered to give tert-butyl (4-{[7-(3-chloropropoxy)quinazolin-4-yl]amino}-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)acetate as the hydrochloride salt (0.674 g, 96% yield):
