To a solution of ethyl 1-(4-fluorobenzyl)-4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine-5-carboxylate (0.41 g, 1.15 mmol) in MeOH (6 mL) was added a solution of sodium hydroxide (92 mg, 2.30 mmol) in 1 mL of water. The resulting mixture was stirred for 5 h at 60° C. The mixture was acidified to pH=6.5 by 1 N HCl and concentrated to afford the title product as brown solid (358 mg, 95% yield). LC-MS (APCl, M+H+): 329.1. HPLC: 96% purity.
