A mixture of 3-(6-nitro-quinolin-2-yl)-3,8-diaza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octane-8-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.0 g, 2.6 mmol), trifluoroacetic acid (2.97 g, 26.0 mmol) and dichloromethane (10 ml) was stirred for 15 h. The mixture was made alkaline by adding concentrated ammonia. The mixture was extracted with dichloromethane, dried and evaporated. Yield 0.50 g (90%) Mp 185° C. decomp.
