A suspension of 3.11 g. of 1,4-dihydroxy-5,8-bis[[2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)ethyl]amino]anthraquinone [prepared as described in Example 1(A)] in 55 ml. of toluene containing 2.0 g. of pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde is stirred and refluxed as for Example 1(B). The hot solution is filtered. The filtrate is concentrated and allowed to stand at room temperature. The title compound separates as blue-black crystals.
