Procedure

A mixture of 7 parts of 1-[4-[4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-piperazinyl]phenyl]-3-propyl-2-imidazolidinone and 225 parts of a hydrobromic acid solution 48% was stirred and refluxed for 5 hours. After cooling, the precipitated product was filtered off, washed with 2-propanol and dissolved in a mixture of methanol and water. The solution was neutralized with a sodium hydrogen carbonate solution. The product was extracted with trichloromethane. The extract was dried, filtered and evaporated. The residue was triturated in dichloromethane. The product was filtered off and dried, yielding 6 parts (89%) of 1-[4-[4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-piperazinyl]phenyl]-3-propyl-2-imidazolidinone (46).
