Employing the procedure substantially as described in Example 4, but substituting for the trichloromethylsulfenyl chloride used in Step A thereof, an equimolecular amount of the sulfenyl chlorides of structure RSCl wherein R is F3C--, ClF2C--, and FCl2C--, there are produced respectively: 1-amino-2-chloro-3-(trifluoromethylsulfinyl)propane trifluoroacetic acid salt; 1-amino-2-chloro-3-(chlorodifluoromethylsulfinyl)propane trifluoroacetic acid salt; and 1-amino-2-chloro-3-(dichlorfluoromethylsulfinyl)propane trifluoroacetic acid salt.
