3-[(4-Acetyl-3-hydroxy-2-propylphenoxy)methyl]benzoic acid methyl ester was allowed to react with 1.0N sodium hydroxide according to the procedure of Example 70 and the product was purified by recrystallization from acetone to give 3-[(4-acetyl-3-hydroxy-2-propylphenoxy)methyl]benzoic acid, the title compound, m.p. 221°-224°, in 92% yield. Analysis Calculated for C19H20O5 : C, 69.50; H, 6.14. Found: C, 69.64; H, 6.35.
