Reaction Steps
The Friedel-Crafts procedure of Example 24a is repeated with 35.4 g of 2,3-dichloroanisole, 32.4 g of o-toluoyl chloride and 28 g of AlCl3 being combined in 125 ml of 1,2-dichloroethane to yield a product of 2,3-dichloro-4-methoxy-2'-methylbenzophenone.
