7.05 g (25 mmol) of 5-fluoro-2-hydroxy-3-nitrobenzoic acid-(2,2,2,-trifluoro-ethyl)amide is dissolved in 70 ml of ethanol, 5.65 (25 mmol) of SnCl2 ·H2O is added and the suspension is stirred for 2 hours at 70° C. The reaction mixture is then concentrated by evaporation to oil and used in the next reaction without purification.
